If i block somebody on facebook will the get a notification saying i blocked them?
My mother doesnt know i hav a facebook and i dont want her to find out so if i block her will she get a notification saying "Quintin Kinnard blocked you" or wat?

Nope. If she was your friend first and searches for you again she won't be able to find you and se might ask you about it. But if she didn't know you had one and tries searching for you, she won't find anything. They won't send a notification or anything so you're safe.
