how do I convince my parents to let me get a facebook?

I am graduating 8th grade and want a facebook to stay in touch with close friends. I tried bringing it up with my father but he said maybe if we set up a "family" page. That's no fun at all. Any suggestions. He's worried bout the safety of the internet.

just show them the sit and mabey have them set it up with u and just show them theres realy nothing bad about it show them u can choose your freinds and who u want and dont want its pritty easy i did the same with my parents.

Why don't you tell him that he can have your password to check up every now and then.. and just make sure to delete anything that will compromise you when ever your finished online.

Don't listen to Blah. Blah is what I have to say about him. He's RIDICULOUS. Just tell them the truth. Be upfront about it. Tell your parents they can set it up with you. Show them the safety features and explain that only people you have added as friends can contact you.
