Would you follow my religion?
Would anyone consider converting to the religion I am currently founding? It is called Ellenism. We worship Ellen Degeneres. For our holy book, we will compile every Myspace update, Facebook status, Tweet, and any other electronic form of text that she has posted online throughout the last 8 years. Our holy day is Thursday, and we will honor it by turning gay/lesbian for that day. On March 19th each year, we will celebrate Ellenmas. We will celebrate by wearing vests and converse. We will also all be required to make her a trending topic on Twitter that day. We will not work that day, and we will devote the night of March 19 to singing self written songs about Ellen. We do have a belief in an afterlife. We believe that there is a version of Heaven and Hell. Our version of heaven is ruled by our mother, Ellen, and an angel, Michael Jackson, circa 1982. Hell will be ruled by an evil lord, named Nicki Minaj, who will be helped by three terrible sisters who act as her servants, the Kardashians. To get to heaven, you simply have to buy a life time membership to Converse Shoes, and interrupt people while they try to talk, and laugh at every joke that is not remotely funny. Is this a good idea? Would you follow it?

No because it does not honor or worship or even establish our true, loving creator who gave us life, sent his son for our sins & is willing to give us eternal life. <3

There are really only two religions in the world: the religion of "do" and the religion of "done." The true faith is the religion of "done." It is the biblical Gospel expressed by Christ on the Cross: "It is finished!" All the rest of the religions of men are religions of "do."

The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again, and that all who trust in Him as their Savior receive eternal life the moment they believe.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

The Bible is clear that eternal life is a free gift. It is dependent on God's faithfulness, not ours. Salvation is not something we achieve, it is something we receive, by faith (Eph. 2:8-9). The Bible says that all who trust in Christ as Savior are forgiven of their sins and have eternal life (Acts 10:43; 16:30-31).

Find a church that teaches the Bible well at this link: http://www.gotquestions.org/church-finder.html

I also recommend these sermons (especially the ones on salvation & grace): http://www.countrysidebible.com/?page_id=2286
