Maybe this sentence was overkill compared to real crimes carried out against people where the criminals are given light or no sentences. Remember you just can't tell a joke about or in an airport. I remember a friend of mine joking around once when we were in Heathrow I kept telling him to stop talking as the heavily armed police got closer and closer.

I hope the 'I Spartacus' protest really takes off.Even on his charge sheet it stated that the police considered it was meant jokingly.A caution would have been more than suffice.None of the tweeters posting the same tweet have been charged and they don't plan to charge them.Tad selective with this law of theirs.
Apparently a worker at the airport came across the tweet and reported it to the Airport manager who in turn reported it to the police.

Some people who view themselves as powerful refuse to accept his obvious tongue in cheek because they want to have any excuse to harshly rule over as many people as possible.

The strike against Paul Chambers is meant to have a chill effect on everyone and to condition everyone into believing they have to please a few people who believe themselves to be in charge.

perhaps he has learnt his lesson now in these times of high security with extremists trying to blow up aircraft etc the authorities do not take kindly to people making threats like this be it in jest or not if you go through airport security and say as a joke i have a bomb on me you would most probably find yourself being unable to travel and even prosecuted which you would well deserve I have no sympathy for him at all
