How come out of all the web-dross one guy gets the might of the law shoved down his throat?
'Tweeters have joined forces to support Paul Chambers, the man convicted and fined for a Twitter message threatening to blow up an airport.

The Twitter community is angry that the 27-year-old accountant has failed to overturn his conviction.

A day after his appeal failed, two "hashtags" to highlight his situation remain top topics in the UK.'

He tweeted: "Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You've got a week to get your shit together, otherwise I'm blowing the airport sky high!"

have to wonder how Micheal O'leary has not been charged with that over the years. I can recall him saying things just like that over the years.

I know how he feels as everything I say on here gets reported.

Rules are rules and he broke them....you cannot say that.

I guess I have to unblock you now!

Maybe this sentence was overkill compared to real crimes carried out against people where the criminals are given light or no sentences. Remember you just can't tell a joke about or in an airport. I remember a friend of mine joking around once when we were in Heathrow I kept telling him to stop talking as the heavily armed police got closer and closer.

I hope the 'I Spartacus' protest really takes off.Even on his charge sheet it stated that the police considered it was meant jokingly.A caution would have been more than suffice.None of the tweeters posting the same tweet have been charged and they don't plan to charge them.Tad selective with this law of theirs.
Apparently a worker at the airport came across the tweet and reported it to the Airport manager who in turn reported it to the police.

Some people who view themselves as powerful refuse to accept his obvious tongue in cheek because they want to have any excuse to harshly rule over as many people as possible.

The strike against Paul Chambers is meant to have a chill effect on everyone and to condition everyone into believing they have to please a few people who believe themselves to be in charge.

Former governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura recounted how as governor he flew to California but not before getting carefully checked over by airport security. He asked the airport agent to consider the two FBI agents that were his escorts and told him that they were carrying nine millimeter guns that he could demand while on the plane.

People who get a little bit of power often allow it to go to their heads and common sense may not be enough to bring them to their senses.

Would you not call this satire?

I don’t remember Kenny Everett getting into trouble for this. Most of us would be waiting to get bombed.

or for this

One thought about this story does concern me though. If they get so concerned about this, does it mean that they haven’t a clue how to tell real terrorists from somebody joking about on this interweb thingy??

That’s scary. What are we wasting all that money on?

Then I saw this. lmfao
‘ Mr Chambers lost his job because of the prosecution. ‘
‘ The trainee accountant from Doncaster, who now lives in Northern Ireland ‘
Well there must be plenty of work over there for an unemployed bomb hoaxer. Lol.

perhaps he has learnt his lesson now in these times of high security with extremists trying to blow up aircraft etc the authorities do not take kindly to people making threats like this be it in jest or not if you go through airport security and say as a joke i have a bomb on me you would most probably find yourself being unable to travel and even prosecuted which you would well deserve I have no sympathy for him at all
