Yikes - I use Avast antivirus - it's free. Google it and install it and be careful because once you get viruses they are hard to get rid of.

EDIT - Hey PC guy - I work tech support for the biggest computer company on the planet and Avast is what we secretly recommend to users. Guys like you push products because you're paid too, guys like me do it to help people out. Don't be such a schill.

Please don't listen to the other people, they aren't qualified to give you the RIGHT answer. Avira, Avast, AVG, they are slowly falling downhill.

Norton and Mcafee are the worst Anti Virus you can get, they are just marketing tools made by Microsoft, hence why they are always free with computers then expect you to pay a fortune to have them permanently, and then you need to download special tools to remove them completely. You will need the Norton/McAfee Removal Tool as well as removing it from programmes and features.

PC Techs like myself check every anti virus, new and old, looking for the best one to provide ourselves with and most importantly our clients. Norton/McAfee never finds the really harmfull viruses

The best anti viruses you can get are Trend Micro or Kaspersky, both offer a free 1 month trial before you buy.Trend is only £34 a year, so very cheap.
It has its own Firewall, internet protection and Email protection.

Every qualified PC tech like myself recommend these, and businesses we service also use them.

You can find them here : http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-Int...67655.html

http://download.cnet.com/Kaspersky-Inter...12072.html

These are only free for a month but are the BEST.

If you only want a Free one, get Superantispyware (free edition) this is the best Free one you can get :http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

Please do not go with what unqualified people are telling you when it comes to PC Security.

The first thing you need to do is run a scan with your anti-virus software. It would also be a good idea to get malwarebytes anti-malware which is a very good program that is free. You can find it at download.com Hopefully between the two they will take care of your problem. If you don't have a anti-virus program, there are some free ones that are good. Avira, Avast, and Microsoft also has one that's not bad. Most of the anti-virus program offer good level of protection, even the free ones. I in fact there are only a couple I tell users to stay away from. Trend Mirco which is recommend by one of your answer is a very bad choice, Its scores very low in the big independent testing labs. These labs are well respected and the results are not disputed by the anti-virus companies. If need I can supply you with links proving what I say. I won't try and pass by self off as a PC Tech LOL who then recommends weak security software.
