Make friends who actually care.

Start commenting on your friend's statuses . . . make close connections with people in your online circle . . . its a good way to encourage them to do the same to you . . .

Say something universal that they can relate to.
For example, "what a beautiful day" - people around you are experiencing the same weather, they may agree.
Or maybe comment about something that is going on in the world, perhaps politics, TV, music...
Doesn't have to be something complicated, just your thoughts about something, make a funny joke, etc.
If a person can't relate to it, they won't comment or like it.
So if your status was "had a good day with *insert name of friend here*", it's more likely that your friend will be the only one to comment or like it.
Some people have random acts of kindness and like something because you're happy, or comment to say "good luck", or "well done", whatever the situation may be.
Hope that helps.
