the trick is not to look for a new way to advertise but instead present the ones that do work in a new way because there aren't too many ways that haven't been done. it's sad to say but the best tricks are playing on our temptation to commit at least one (if not all) of the seven deadly sins- wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy and gluttony. it's always worked and it always will

SEO has worked for years and will continue to work. 80% of people use search engines and 80% of those people say they use search engines to influence their buying decisions. But about 70% of people never leave the first page of search engine results, so it's really important that whatever your advertising shows up on the first page.

If you want to learn more about SEO, request a free seo analysis from simpleseogroup.com -- you'll receive a customized 30 page report with details on your website, where you currently rank, and how much SEO would cost you as well as traffic estimates. Hope this helps!

SO much depends on what you're selling!

Advertising: is placing your product/business name in front of people counting on some of those people to become your customers thanks to the advertising. The Internet has added to the repertoire of possible ways to advertise. But it's just another way, added to many, of reaching your customer.

An advertising trend that still works today: promotional items also called advertising specialties.

I work in the advertising specialties business (since 1996) so I can attest that many promotional items successfully connect businesses to their customers. Because there are so many different types (from logoed pens and mugs to zippable coconuts and fold-able vases) any theme can be successfully matched with an object. And the views that a customer gives a promotional item lasts much longer than the single view they give a magazine, for instance. It's classic, it's been around awhile, and promotional items is an advertising trend that will be around indefinitely, because they work.

:)Hope my comments help...

Well, fact is that advertising trends do rise and fall. However, there are some that are classic and have have remained strong. Amongst these are targeted classified ads, article marketing, search engine optimization and word of mouth just to name a few. Speaking of word of mouth, this has always been a strong one and it has been coined the phrase "viral marketing" online, which is basically getting people to voluntarily rant & rave about your products to their social networks.

Now speaking of social networking, this is a HUGE advertising trend nowadays. You see it everywhere online & off by large and small business. Business are now promoting Facebook and Twitter pages left & right! They even incorporate it into their commercials. So social marketing is definitely what time it is and you should definitely get involved if you're not already.

In fact, I just read an interesting article on gourmetads.com about advertising trends for 2011, and they report social marketing is on the rise significantly; there are also very positive reports for mobile and video marketing.
