What kind of programmer does it take?
To create a website like facebook, twitter, linkedin ,etc? Do you have to be amazing or just above average?

It's not the coding that is the problem, it's the ability to determine what people want and how they want it that determines success. The folks at MySpace were good coders, but weren't able to follow changing market trends as well as the folks at Facebook.
