When looking for this type of information the key is to first look for what is already available directly from the horses mouth. In this case we have Adidas; a company that is publicly traded, thus, they report everything (at least they are supposed to) to the US Government. So, visit usasearch.gov* and do a search for adidas. Next, visit Yahoo! Finance** and search for the companies ticker symbol. Adidas has about 17 different symbols based on location & pink sheets ** Check each to see if there are any new reports. Also, add them to your alerts. If there is any breaking news yahoo will email it to you. Also check out Bloomberg, Reuter, and Morningstar for reports. You can often find information on marketing budget and allocations. Lastly, conduct the same research for there competitors Nike, and Reebok. These are your secondary marketing research methods and sources.

Now, time for tips from Marketing Rule Breaker for primary research information.

First, create a questionarie with the Top 5 closed-end questions you would ask the CEO of Adidas, then throw in 2 open-ended questions you'd asked a shoe vendor. Next, visit your local library online and find out what databases they keep. If they have a deal with infousa, hoovers, or referenceusa, login in with your library card, and pull a datalist of 100 shoe retailers (two from each state at random). Then, call each one, tell them you are conducting a survey to help Adidas better serve them. Ask the 7 questions to each of them. Be sure to thank them.

Next, do a twitter search to see what customers are saying about Adidas.

Now, put all our information into a nice packet and, look for the problems Adidad has, and I promise their future marketing will be geared toward addressing those issues. If not, create a solutions for the problems you see. And, send the packet to the Adidas' marketing department. This was promised to the retailers remember. You never know you might get an awesome job offer.
