Is there an "expiration date" on a volunteer administrator certification?
about 3 years ago, I took the certification training to be a volunteer administrator. Now I'm applying for a volunteer coordinator job. I don't want to list this certification if it's no longer active. But I don't ever remember hearing about it only being good for a certain length of time. Is the certification only valid for a certain number of years?

No, the certification is considered "timeless." And, quite frankly... it's not as impressive as experience. Be ready in your application to talk about your experience or knowledge of a variety of volunteer engagement schemes:
-- long-term, onsite volunteers (traditional) -- onsite, short term group volunteering (episodic volunteering) -- online volunteering in all its various forms (long-term, high-responsibility, microvolunteering, crowdsourcing, etc.) -- committee membership and other high-responsibility roles (board members, project leaders, pro bono consultants, etc.) Also be ready to talk about where you keep up-to-date about trends in volunteer engagement. What online communities are you a part of, or what Twitter feeds do you follow, or what Facebook profiles do you follow, to keep up-to-date about what's happening in volunteer engagement? Here's my info re: volunteer engagement (I'm a consultant re: such) http://www.coyotecommunications.com/volunteer/ Ads |
