How do I sell my online business?
I have an online store selling baby bedding and accessories. It's a fully registered and legitimate website but I don't have the time to put into marketing it and therefore it's not worth keeping anymore. How would I find someone to sell it to?

Starting a business is easy, getting it "out there" for people to see is the hard part. I highly recommend you look into getting a tracking code for your site, and use Google Analytics to track your progress (if you haven't done so already)

Social media is one way. Get a facebook page, a linkedin page, and maybe a flickr page, to advertise your products. Whenever you post on any blog, or comment section, include your name and web address. The idea is you need to increase traffic to your site. The more "links" you have out there, the better.

Last, get out on foot. Talk to people who would use your products such as nurseries, people in infant care. Go to trade shows, conferences etc. A lot of business these days is done through "word of mouth".

Before you decide to throw in the towel, there are some really easy ways to begin to market yourself online and increase your awareness and traffic. (Once you have done this, you will have a more valuable business and new contacts to find an interested buyer if you decide to proceed.)

1) Are you using Social Media? Set up a Twitter and a Facebook business page for your business. Knowing that you do not have a lot of time, you can use a social media tool like, HootSuite to then schedule your updates for a whole week or month at a time. Make sure to place your FaceBook and Twitter links onto your homepage as well. You could even offer the first 50 people that "like" your page get a discount coupon. You can use these "channels" to send out specials, new products pictures or links.

2)Questions and Answers and Forums. Once a month go into some of the parenting sites like : Babycenter or The Bump and weigh in on the forums in helpful ways. Be careful not to be salesy, but to truely be helpful. You will be spreading your brand and your site location to a prefect target audience for you.
