what are the major differences between twitter and facebook?

i have a facebook and have thought about getting twitter. It seems like facebook and twitter are reallly similar though what are some of the differences?

Facebook...this is for social networking, being friends with people you want to be friends with. You can also upload pictures, comment on other people's status and pictures, etc.

Twitter is a social media as well as microblogging service, this is usually a quick one sentence update to let people know what you are doing. People can follow you and you can follow as many people as you like. you can touch with your favorite celebrities, those celebrities acoounts are not a fake account. twitter has a feature that verified account for celebrities. you would see a blue color tick mark in the verified account.
