I have started my own website and I just wanted to know what are the most effective ways to advertise the site and promote it?

Google is the number one search engine on the internet. Google looks for consistancy and relevence of content. Many sites are not able to be optumized on a per article basis. This hurts your rating by Google.

Photos and drawings are also not able to be rated by google, because they have no way to determine the relevence of the photo, but they do make things more interesting for your readers.

Print advertising is best because most people will not be able to remember your site's address.
