I would continue the basic education from Aveda on to a school the specializes in make-up artistry.

there are film schools all over south florida that i know of who have constant projects. to get started out i think you should just volunteer because we don't have the industry say LA has, but you never know what film is going to do well you know?
so just volunteer your time and if its something you really enjoy it wont seems like a big deal, you'll also build up contacts that are VITAL in the film industry and be sure to take pictures of the sets and actors you've put make up on.

Sign up on http://www.modelmayhem.com and begin posting up your portfolio. There's a lot of industry discussion on there by those already working in that area you may find useful. You can also network.

Congratulations on choosing such an exciting career path in makeup artistry. Make sure you look into the reciprocity/transferring requirements from FL to CA!

It is important to market yourself - consider posting your portfolio online, pushing yourself out to social networks like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook, consider doing a big promotion of "specials" to build your portfolio and get your name out - like "FREE makeup session" blah blah blah. What about calling yourself a "Celebrity Stylist" when you market yourself - self-fulfilling prophecy. Build that reputation early. Of course, it couldn't hurt to get your start in stage/theater makeup and independent films to work your way up to major cinema.

Check out the blog below, "Shortcuts to Becoming a Stylist to the Stars." It's about this great book by Diana Schmidtke and it offers some insight to her experience and tips on how to become a celebrity stylist.

I hope all these pointers help!
