I need to get backlinks to my website but dont know where to start. Is there companies we can pay to do it?

Yes there are companies that charge for link development but the quality of the back links are quite poor and could effect your search engine ranking in the long run. I would suggest you look for blogs, forums in your niche and start communicating with people in your industry that way you can leave back links to your site. Submit your site to some high page rank directories such as DMOZ, another effective way is to do article marketing, use social media such as Twitter and Facebook. Start you own group in Yahoo or Google and invite people to join.

With the different ways to get back links to your site from above will also get you targeted traffic to your site which will increase your conversion. If you go for the quick fix and pay a company you will get lots of worthless back links from sites that have nothing to do with your niche and Google see this and will give you a lower ranking and your site will get no free search engine traffic.

There are companies that will do the work for you. I know its a big hassle to be commenting on blogs all of the time to very gradually get your brand / site known.
