How exactly does Twitter work?

I hear a bit about twitter but what exactly is it? My friend told me it works with your cell phone, how does it work with your cell phone? When you use your cell phone, do you get charged? can someone please help me? Thanks.

Twitter is basically a place where people can tell other people what they are doing. You can post updates with your cell phone, and you do not get charged beyond your average cell phone internet rates.

You can "follow" people where you can see what they're doing and other people can "follow" you. You can access twitter from a computer or your mobile phone as long as you have an internet connection. It depends on your carrier plan if you get charged for using the internet. To use Twitter, you just make an account like any other social network. Many celebraties and corporations have twitter accounts. If you're in countries where there is heavy censoring of the internet such as Iran or China, you may not be able to access twitter.

you just update what your doing in the moment. the whole cell phone thing is if you want to update what your doing on the go.

It's a place where you just tweet about any random thing like what you're doing, or what you see in 140 words and simply tweet it! Those following you on twitter will be updated with the message that you sent. This is mostly based on the internet.

Your friend's partly correct, you can tweet on your phone too, except that you'd have to use the internet on your phone or use a twitter application available in your country to tweet.

It may or may not cost you money to tweet with your phone, depending on the application you are using. Using and joining twitter is completely free by the way!

On tweeter people twit (post) about what they are doing etc. they just tell the world what they are up to, what the weather is like etc

As for the phone, you get charged the normal rate for the internet connection.
