How to HACK?.....or NOT?

I have taught myself how to write HTML code and I love it! But I am very interested in learning how to manipulate programs and systems to bend and taylor them to my needs (I am not sure if it is called hacking) but where would be a good place to start for someone that has NO experience in programming and code. Thanks

....Also I am not interested in doing anything malicious, just to manipulate for ease of use.

If you just want to mod your not a hacker your a moder or a cracker, there is nothing wrong with that, you can start with a nice easy programing language there are loads of online courses and loads are free. the most popular seems to be ruby on rails, its structure is simple and the basis for others.

If your primary interest is html and web-based programming, try looking at learning more xml as well as Python, javascript, cgi and php. You might also look at installing xampp (if you run Windows) on your computer and playing with Apache as well as playing with technologies like Drupal and Joomla.
