how do you create your own social networking website like myspace, face book,friendster, or twitter?

I am thinking about starting my own type of social, networking website. I think it would be cool to have one but is it too much work. Is there away to do that in a cheap way that is will still look good.

Nope!
It DOES demand a lot of work. Any basic social networking will take at least six months full-time work to develop in any serious way, followed by years of improvements and changes.
Any other way is a fantasy.
But you still can start your own blog: another one among the millions totally uninteresting blogs that no-one but friends or familly visit, and fall into oblivion a few months later, because even a blog needs consistency and daily maintenance...

There's no 'recipe' for that.

You have to code all your way through and then some.

There can't be a 'cheap' way to do it, just think that if there was an open-source framework for a community, people would take it apart and put it back together to see how they can hack it. If you'd build a community the 'cheap' free way and made it a successful community, every 12-year old wizz kid would learn the code inside-out to hack his girlfriend-wannabe's account.
