a.) Make a Twitter account and interact with your consumers on a more personal level. Also, it doesn't hurt that Twitter shows up readily for SEO purposes (usually the first page) and will get you more internet real-estate.
b.) Create a Facebook page, as well, and especially, a LinkedIn. All three of these options are free and necessary.
c.) If your competition for ranking in SEO on Google is high, investing in a good AdWords campaign can bring very large amounts of traffic to your website for relevant keywords.
a.) Spending money on Facebook and LinkedIn ads is somewhat expensive ($4 CPM), and although it allows you to target specific audiences, there are most cost-effective ways to spend your money.

If you're running a global business with a decent budget, I would suggest investigating retargeting/interest based targeting. Its not as scary as it sounds, as most companies who provide this service do it anonymously. ( For example, a company that targets anonymously based on ownership signals- http://www.owneriq.com )

Companies like this will tag visitors to your site and follow them anonymously as they roam the internet to make sure that you're sending the right kind of ads.

It depends of the nature of your business: if it is a local service / business I would try Facebook Ads and Adwords.
