What is the best way to promote my adult website with out links for free?
I have a great adult BDSM fetish toy site, http://www.KinkyBoysToys.com . I cant get a good amount of web traffic, Despite having products much lower then competitors! I would really like some tips on getting traffic that will hopefully end in sales?

http://WWW.KINKYBOYSTOYS.COM 'Cause Kinky Boys love their Toys!

Ten points for best answer!!!

Register a twitter account for your website, twitter about your website and following people which maybe interest in your website, then people will follow back.

1) Social networking, from twitter to fetlife to facebook.

2) Become a merchant on amazon.com - they are weak in the area of kinky toys, but are nonetheless the first place many people (including myself) go to order anything online. Just last week, I wanted something, did not find it on amazon, and then kind of got over it. Looking at your site, I see that you sell that product. The "impulse" era of my desire to have it is now over and I'm not interested, but had it been on amazon.com when I wanted to make that impulse purchase - I would likely have purchased it from you through amazon.com.

3) Much of your product line would appeal to heterosexual men such as myself, but if I saw the link to your website by itself I'd assume it was for toys only gay men would be into and likely wouldn't click on it. Make two mirror sites that are not focused on the gay male market, but has the same product line, shopping cart, etc. Leave what you have up, just create two mirrors of it: One replaces the front-page images of men with trans or androgynous people, and another replaces the men with women in latex. Holy crap batman, I've just expanded your potential customer base by about 10 fold. kinkytranstoys.com and kinkyplayertoys.com and kinky(anything-you-can-think-of)toys.com all should redirect to one of the three versions of your website. At $5/year for maintaining the .com, that is a steal. You should have separate social networking (twitter, fetlife, facebook, etc) and marketing efforts (stumbleupon, digg.com, etc) for each variant, but all pointing to one of those three websites you will maintain.

4) Find some area on wikipedia that you could add a sentence or two and then link to your website as the "source" for the claim. A paragraph in one of the many BDSM articles that you can add an additional detail to... something like: "An example of this would be a gag with hooks that keeps the submissive's mouth open" with a product from your website as the source. The point isn't that wikipedia readers will follow that link, the point is that google's pagerank software thinks highly of any website referenced by wikipedia due to wikipedia itself having a very high pagerank, meaning that as soon as google's spiders and robots (yes, they are really called that Tongue ) come across that link your website may just be bumped to page one for certain searches.

I think that should give you a pretty good to-do list, eh?

Overall, I think you are focusing to much on the website itself and not everything that surrounds it - product line, sales, offers, where consumers actually go to find stuff to purchase (google and amazon and social networking), and I think it is silly that you are limiting your target demographic to gay males only. Feel free to keep your product-line focus on gay men, of course - just don't make it so obvious to your customers.
