I've been a democrat my entire life. I don't lean too far to the left...I don't believe in social democracy or democratic socialism. I firmly believe in the free market, but with the proper things done to ensure equality and fairness for everyone. I do believe in the welfare state and tend to lean to the left on social issues.

Which party would I vote for in the UK? I've heard that their Conservative Party is far more liberal than the Republican and that Labour is liberal but also conservative at the same time. It confuses me.

The political landscape in Europe is changing after the last election, and I believe the labor party lost some power. You may want to reassess the situation when you move, and when you have a right to vote as citizenship takes time. If you are already a UK citizen and living permanently in the US, you can vote through your local UK embassy.

Below you will find links to the Labour and Conservative parties so you can check them by yourself. However, I would advise finalizing your choice after your move because depending on where you settle, you may have a different view on the issues at that time.

Ideologically you would be a Labour voter, but as Labour has so totally stuffed up the country, you would be better voting for the Conservatives.

Depends on your views. Take the test (on the link below) and find out.

Many in the Conservative party like the Republicans, but many like the Democrats as well. As for the other parties, apart from the BNP, most prefer the Democrats.

All the parties in the UK would say that they want the same things you do. The second link tells you more about each one.
