How long to get from 0 - 1000 visitors a day using free marketing/advertising methods?

I am starting a diet blog/website and i am wondering how many months will it take from getting 0-1000 visitors a day. I'm hoping 4 or 5 because it will take at least 3 months for me to have a reasonable amount of content. Is that a reasonable assumption if i work on it 2-3 hours a day?

very few websites ever get to 1000 visitors per day - depends on the topics involved and the content and unless you do a lot of marketing, no one is going to know you exist among the millions of websites and blogs out there

It can certainly be done within 3-6 months. The key is not how much content you have, though. You are going to need to learn a lot if you are ever going to get there.

I suggest using wordpress and getting a good SEO plugin, and a social media plugin so that you can connect your blog to your facebook/twitter etc. Learn the basics of search engine optimization, and apply them to every single post.

Start writing posts after doing your "keyword research" (you will learn this in SEO), and then re-apply the content to your social media, plus things like squidoo... etc.

You will get there, but the search engine optimization is extremely important to know.
