Here are some ways you can promote your website and increase your traffic

1. Create great content. Everything starts with great content. A great start will be to read this Google guide on what is a high quality site http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.c...ality.html

2. Think 'Linkbait." Linkbait is a strategy that brings links to a website simply because of the unique and popular content on a website.

3. Optimize your website for the search engines. Make sure your website is indexable by the search engines, and has enough text for Google to digest.

Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

4. Use RSS Feeds. RSS allows interested subscribers to immediately see your new content. RSS feeds are a powerful marketing tool that website owners and bloggers must use.

5. Use social media. Social networking and bookmarking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Digg, and others can generate significant amounts of traffic. Know the steps to social media success http://www.learningfrombigboys.com/2010/...ccess.html .
6. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Give your users the tools and make it easy for your visitors to share your pages to others. Put a Facebook Like, Twitter button, Google+ , Stumbleupon or use a tool such as AddThis http://www.addthis.com.

7. Submit your site to directories. Directories may seem like a relic from the 1990s, but targeted directories still has the potential to bring traffic to your website.

8. Do article marketing. What works now if finding a few quality websites, offer to write a guest post (exclusive to them) -- in exchange, they’ll keep your link in the About the Author section and making sure that the link is a dofollow.

9. Network with other bloggers/website owners. Email other bloggers; pitch your post to them and hope that they find your post interesting enough to link or mention it in one of their blog posts.

10. Send out press releases. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and © get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

There are several ways to get people to see your blog and drive traffic to it. The easiest is to use your keywords and search engines will list you according to their rankings. This is called SEO.

To take it beyond that, list your blog with content aggregates for your niche, triathlons. Then create a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and other social networking content to complement your blog. Just keep working it and after a while (nothing happens over night) you will get a steady stream of traffic.

To make it easy for your content to go viral, add sharing buttons, and rss feed, and an email sign up for those who visit your blog.

I wish you luck.

The first thing you should do is actually register a domain name and installed wordpress on your domain name. Trust me, it will make a huge difference and you can thank me later.

Hosting your blog on wordpress.com gives them all the authority and you do not want to do that.

Once the blog is installed, build links, set up banner ads etc and the traffic will come.

You can use Facebook Ads to help promote, as they are cheaper and more effective than Google Adwords. The ad can link to your site. Another idea is to create a blog on your website and keep it updated with great travel tips and advice. That will rank your site higher to Google and other search engines if you keep fresh valuable content on it.

Also, you may want to think about running some different campaigns using social media and online marketing systems, such as SendPepper Pro and Office AutoPilot. These are all-in-one business and marketing platforms that integrate your contact management, payment processing, automated marketing (website follow-up), task management, and affiliate management. You can create landing pages with forms, HTML emails, postcards, and manage different campaigns through one system. You website can be connected directly to it so that it stores new leads.

Also look into getting a SEO Professional to help with your blog. You can find elancers at Guru.com or elance.com. Many will bid on your job after posting.
