Is Twitter blocked in Dubai ? What about MSN ? Can you maintain a blog and an internet radio from there ?

I have heard on various sites that YouTube,Flickr,Facebook,Skype and Twitter are blocked in OEA. I am considering moving there , so I wonder if all this is true.

Obviously there's internet there.. but why would Twitter and MSN be blocked?

only Flickr & Skype are , others you mention work , as long as you don't use VOIP features (net phone). Though if you do not use Internet Explorer Flickr works. Or you can use competitor sites like Photobucket and so on. None of the major blogging services are blocked , though I can't say for sure , there may be some odd site /subdomain hosting illegal & hacking stuff (like pirate bay), or how to unlock Etisalat iPhone /Blackberry etc (typical monopoly tactics) , or some users report it to be blocked. As well as known phishing & malicious software websites. In addition to whatever is on the "ready-to-order" block list they buy from US based Internet Security & site filtering companies.
