Blogspot is just for blogs. If you're really good with the computer, you can make it look like whatever you want. It could almost be like an actual website. All you have to do is get it famous.

I would suggest first buying a catchy domain name. This can be done through https://www.godaddy.com/

You should then purchase a hosting plan to host your blog. This can also be done through godaddy.com or a multitude of other hosting companies (try doing a google search for more options).

The reason for purchasing your own domain name (eg. http://www.fashionblog.com) is that not only does your website look more credible but it also appears more professional. If you do not want to spend any money, you can start a free blog at blogger.com or wordpress.org

Next, depending on how good a programmer you are you can either design your own theme for the website or you can use a service/platform like wordpress (http://wordpress.org/) that offers up a number of free themes (can also do a google search to free websites offering free wordpress themes).

After installing your new theme, you are off to the races. Buying a domain and dosting plan and installing a wordpress theme should not take more than a few hours. Once completed, you should focus on building good content (articles, videos, interviews, pictures and the like) for you blog. Content gets you noticed and if it is catchy and original it can attract the eyes of other bloggers and influential people and can lead to more visits to your blog.

After building up a lot of good content (content comes first always), you should focus on marketing you blog. Create fan pages or groups for your website on social media sites like myspace, facebook, submit your articles to sites like digg, stumpleupon, reddit etc. Create a twitter account under you're name or the blog and focus on building up a followers. Also submit you site to google, yahoo and the other search engines for them to index your blog and to inform them that your blog exists. You can also leave comments and interact via email/instant messaging with other bloggers in your niche (with their permission) and ask them for tips n such. Lastly, read up on things like search engine optimization (seo) in forums or website (q quick google search should yield an abundance of resources). Read, Write, Read and Write.
