What is a good book or online resource to use when getting started in earning commisions online?
I would like to start a business on the side in affiliate marketing. I've been told that Commission Junction is a good place to start and I've also been told to get a website of my own to promote products. Beyond that, I don't know where to start. Any suggestions such as books to read or websites with tips for newbies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For the 747,325th time...
The Internet is not some magical cash machine.
There are NO online jobs. Not one. No data entry. No surveys. No clicks. No nothing.
You will not find one from your house.
You will not find one with your mouse.
You will not find one here or there.
You will not find one anywhere.

There is a review site that has a couple of affiliate marketing programs in one location. They have receive reviews from regular people like yourself that have or haven't received results from each program.

The site is http://www.Retire-At-30.com/review

Affiliate marketing is simple and free, but the problem is that very few people willing give that information for free. However if you are will to pay for it have for some great sources that will not only tell you what to do, but they will tell you how to do it to.

that site is http://www.Retire-At-30.com/traffic

they have 100s of video training - for list building, traffic generation, website monetization and optimization, SEO, article marketing and much more.

Here's a list of names that I have learned from that you can Google and see what they have to offer or go to there facebook pages...

Brain Moran
Mike Dillard
Mack Michaels
Anthony Morrison
Anik Singal

Just to name a few... but these guy really help me out in my development.

Last check out the Warrior Forum... The number one Forum for Affiliate Marketing

Smart to start on the side. CJ is good but you will not make much commission, without boatloads of traffic because the commissions are small.
You can have everything you need provided for you by some companies, and there is even one I know of that allows you to make upwards of 80% commissions.

Most people don't have any marketing skills or budget and this severely limits their options.
For newbies and not so newbies I recommend http://www.fromstresstofreedom.com because it teaches you marketing skills both online and offline, and allows you to sell the information and make 80%+ in commissions. It works, but it takes CONSISTENT effort over a 6-12 month period of time, as do all things Smile

First off, the first guy is right, that the Internet is no magical cash machine. However, you didn't say that you thought it was!

Affiliate marketing takes a lot of work. It isn't easy. But it is possible. There are many websites out there for learning online marketing (which is what you will need for affiliate marketing).

Try:
http://www.seomoz.com for SEO (the best way to get traffic, and therefore money)
http://www.digestonlinemarketing is a new site that is specifically for teaching people how to do online marketing that are beginners.
http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com is a good one for marketing on social media. However, be careful, social media can be a big time waster if you overuse it!

I think learning from signing up to newsletters, free webinars, and having your own website to practice is on is the best way to learn. It will take time and hard work, but if you love it, it will be fun!
