it would be nice to think that they would do a charity gig for free but i highly doubt it =/
the best thing to do is see if you can contact their record label or something and have a chat with them =] Ads |

If you were successful in getting them to do it (which will probably take a lot of work), then you would hope they would want to come and do it for free. However I suppose you could offer them something toward their expenses, because even though that would come out of the charity funds raised, you would hopefully still be able to show a charity surplus on the event.
More importantly though will be making your proposition attractive to the record company, so that you have a win win situation. You'll need to show them which charities you would raise funds for, and what part the band might be asked to play in this (for example will you charge an entrance fee for the show?). The event obviously has to fit in with their diary (if you are a fan what are they doing that week?), and also has to be consistent with their brand image and fan base. If you could offer them any kind of additional free marketing as part of the request, then that's likely to make it more appealing as well. For example local radio and tv news coverage, facebook, twitter and youtube content etc. There also seems to be a lot to learn here, so why not propose this to your teachers as a class project within either media studies or business and enterprise classes as well. Live long and prosper positively enterprising |
