What is a branding strategy? What would be an example of one?

I'm having some trouble figuring this out for my marketing class because I don't have a book! Any help is appreciated, thank you.

A branding strategy is a method you choose and follow that brings your product to the public eye and helps create sales. The point is that you need to get your product's name out there to create interest in it. There are lots of examples online about typical strategies.

The use of Twitter is a strategy being used by many companies today to market itself especially TV shows. I would add Facebook to that and any of the other social networking sites.
