No, the economy is far from stable...shouldn't you research this properly, rather than ask strangers on Y!A?

@Ian, this is the Ireland section...it refers to University College Dublin.

UCD ? would that be University College Delhi ?

This is a global forum. I know what UCD is but most of your readers don't.

Time to rephrase your question.

overall job market not stable, but HP and Big Fish Games were in the news http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0209/jobs.html

Depends on your specialty tbh I'd keep an eye on the players on the big scene in Ireland like Facebook will be hiring in the near future, Google regularly have jobs going, Apple have been recruiting recently, not necessarily in IT per se, but other services.

I'd try and get the foot in the door with a company now for something for the summer and take it from there with a view to getting a place looking for graduates which is your advantage point to play from

It depends on how persistent and smart you are in your job applications, and also how lucky you are.

Far from stable, unfortunately.

If you are someone with good business acumen, and have some good original ideas, start your own IT company.

Actually I think IT is the only stable profession left now.

The flag under your question say it is from the US...........so if you are a US student at UCD then you will need to get a work visa anyway to work/live in Ireland..........you story doesn't hold water really as you know what the job market is in the industry you wish to work in and if you don't then you are not very good and no one will employ you anyway............. asking strangers about something like this is very susssss........

IT in my opinion is the only stable job available at the moment, every major website has their European headquaters in Dublin eBAY, FaceBook, and Twitter. So, go find a job and run like the wind Tongue
