What's the difference between Democrats and Republicans?

The Republican Party holds Conservative and right-wing beliefs; which the main thing is being the empowerment of individuals to solve their own problems. They view individualism as more important than helping a whole society. They are pro-business, favoring rich tax cuts and market solutions to problems. They are usually anti-tax and anti-big government. They think:

Global Warming is natural
Abortion should be banned
Campaign contributions shouldn't be limited
Private health care as it is mostly
Free Trade
Death Penalty Supportive
anti-gun control
little or no separation of church and state
Traditional "Family Values" laws against immoral behavior
Private Schools
Anti-Stem cell research
Strong military with Hawkish foreign policy
Less or no welfare
Smaller government or Same

---------On the debt deal they ONLY wanted spending cuts and pushed for more.

The Democratic Party holds Liberal and Moderate; Left wing positions. They think that the government can effectively solve social problems. They support heavily individual liberties, equality, and the return of some gains to the poorer people. They support higher taxes on the rich and favor government regulation of the economy. They think:

Abortion should be legal
Universal Single Payer Health Care
Stem Cell research is necessary to human society
Global warming is man made mostly
Market Economy w/ Government regulation is the best to level the playing field for all
Improved public schools
Higher minimum wage
Strong Military with Diplomacy first
Government assisted renewable energy solutions
Pro-gun control
Pro-immigration
Cap and Trade to limit fossil fuels
Larger Government or Smart Government (balance)
Supports Welfare
Free trade and Fair Trade

-------------On the Debt deal, Democrats wanted a debt ceiling increase, higher taxes for the rich, and some spending cuts (not as many as the Republicans)

Democratic Party---------------------------ll--------------------------------------Republican Party

Liberal-------Moderate Liberal-------Moderate-------Moderate Con.------Conservative

As you can see the Democrats resemble and represent Liberals, Moderates, the between, the Republicans represent the right including Conservatives and Moderates; this is where you hear the terms "left winger" and "right winger".

Extra Info:

Libertarians typically support Republicans because Lib. are against large governments, but support Democrats with individual liberties.

Authoritarians support larger government.

Tea Party members support Republicans and are considered extreme Conservatives and oppose larger government and taxation.

Socialists are considered Far Left and are rarely included in the Democratic Party, the only exception I can think of may be Bernie Sanders - Senator of Vermont.

Good Luck this was probably more then you needed to know anyway also (I'm too in High School).
