Incentive might work better. The carrot rather than the stick.

Nice to see you think the disabled aren't normal. Typical liberal hypocrisy.

As long as the "black" person had the same skills and education level as the "white" person, then I would have no problem with a business hiring them over the "white" person. What irritates most of us Conservatives is when "black" people are hired simply because they are "black" even when there are more qualified people who could hold the job. The same principle applies to disabled people.

As for social welfare, we are fine with it as long as it only help people who are TRULY at the bottom of their luck. We don't like the people who are leaching off of the system when they could be working instead. Why should my money go to someone who is capable of working but chooses not to?

As for how the disadvantaged would survive without welfare... it's called PRIVATE charity, look it up.

None of that matters. If someone can't do the job, they should either not be hired, or not bother applying. If a disabled person can work a highly skilled job, I say go for it. But if they get the job only on the merit of being disabled, that can be bad if they're in the medical field. Minorities-- the same applies. I don't want someone cutting into me who didn't have good grades in medical school.

By the way, this applies to white people in wheel chairs as well as able-bodied black people.

As other have said, Affirmative Action is different than the disabilities act and are for two different situations.
