The man was an important writer of Colonial America, the early 19th century, and one of the most influential men in American History.

Why would the TBE make such a change after 30 some years? Why now?

Their not, Texas is simply removing Jefferson from the enlightenment section and placing him in the history section.

So they can exert some authority to revise history. It will go to the supreme court and they will get a tongue lashing and the teachers, I know one, will not teach their revisionist ideology anyway, at least, not with a straight face.

They took him out of their text books because he did not believe in God. Amazing isn't it?

Give me a minute and I'll find the link.

They've also re wrote history to say that the civil rights movement served no purpose...OUTRAGEOUS!

Although their actions were completely horrendous, they don't remove all references to him.

They voted to change a standard having students study the impact of Enlightenment ideas on political revolutions from 1750 to the present. They dropped the reference to Enlightenment ideas (replacing with “the writings of”) and to Thomas Jefferson; and added Thomas Aquinas and others. Jefferson’s ideas, they argue, were based on other political philosophers listed in the standards.

Really absurd--to say that Jefferson had no influence on political revolution. You know, aside from the fact that he wrote the Declaration of Independence.

Okay, well that's not what happened. He's not being highlighted on his own page. Instead it will be Ben Franklin.

Once health care is passed the liberals will be coming after those academic predators that prey on children. And believe me, they'll suffer the same fate as their sexual predator cohorts.
