Ideas for promoting a small business?
I have a resume writing service and have made up flyers, gotten business cards, posted on craigslist and all that. What other marketing ideas do you know that could be successful for me? Also, where can I legally leave my business cards? Thank you!

Talk to local businesses and see if you can leave your cards there. You can go to walmart and post your flyer on their boards also. Put an ad in the local newspaper and spread out if you want. Do a county or do a few. You decide but either way, you have to put yourself out into the open. Talk to random people, go to the unemployment office and see if you can hang a flyer. On the flyer do some bogus results thing saying: Did you know people with a Resume are 83% more likely to get the job?
See that would work, it is misleading, but who cares, you want the business, so get it.

Why not start a website for your business? MS Office Live Small Business might be a good choice because there are templates to help you build your site. There is also a contact management system, site traffic reports and e-mail to help with the business side of things.

There are a number of internet things that you can do. As mentioned try posting on http://crqaigslist.org Also try starting a blog, post on Twitter, post on other resume related blogs and forums using your contact information in your signature, wiki, podcasts, optimized website, google adwords, etc.

In the real world why don't you try calling employment agencies and ask them if they would refer clients to you if you would do the same for them, or would they recommend you for a fee.
