How do we use twitter?

I just joined the bandwagon and made a twitter account, im not sure what the point of the site is, we write updates and read other peoples updates?? Its amusing at first, but if i want to know what my friends are up to i call them or send a message on facebook or msn, right?

5 million people must have joined for a reason, am i missing something?

It depends really, if you have a lot to say its great especially if you tell all your friends about your twitter account so they can follow you, also nearly every celeb is on twitter so you can see what their up too which is pretty fun

Wouldn't bother if I were you. It turns out to just be another passing fad.

According to a newspaper article and a monitoring service, more people are leaving after a month then are joining it.
