Is the message to our youth that Job security comes by working for the government?

I am just curious, because postal workers, teachers, social workers, all seem sheltered from the realities of the economy. Unions make sure that these people still get their precious raises while the rest of us have to deal with a "free market" with no political backing. Is this really the message we should send to our kids, that the way for a secure future comes by joining the government?

Yes - work for the government and you can never get fired, no matter how incompetent you are, and no matter how bankrupt the government is
