Thatcher left in the political scene as PM in 1990. 22 years ago. after 10 years or so in power.
Traditional Conservatism died when Harold MacMillan left power in 1963. Douglas Hume was just a caretaker. So the answer is a generation. |

Thatcher developed an ideology of economic liberalism that was based on an American model of the free market. Other than that shift in economic policies, thatcherism was pretty much traditional UK conservatism, supporting business and commerce while concentrating on maintaining a social hierarchy and preserving old power structures and institutions.
