I need help with new Twitter account?

I just opened a twitter account and have a couple questions.
1.) The area for people I'm following won't show their pic icons, it's just blank, unlike other people's profiles.
2.) How do you change the font of your outgoing/incoming tweets. Mina are huge and dark compared to my friends.
