worried about things being hacked?
i'm really paranoid about my email account being hacked, so, how do you know when it's being hacked, easy ways to prevent it? if someone hacks into my email can they access all my stuff in my computer? can people actually hack your whole computer? thanks to those who answer, i need to put my mind at rest and if you can say anything else about hacking that would be great xx

The best way from somebody hacking your email is to have a very very strong password that can not be broken. Add symbols, letters, and capital letters with at least 10 characters. As far as your computer being hacked, make sure you have a good anti-virus program.

You should try improving on your password. If you're sure it has been hacked, change it straight away. Make it longer, about 10 characters and add numbers, symbols and capital letters.
Don't add any part of your name or e-mail address in your password because this makes it easier to guess.
e.g
Name: Bob Smith
e-mail address: bobsmith@hotmail.co.uk
Password: smithbob

or anything like that.
Make it something difficult for anybody to guess and make sure that you keep it a secret. Don't write it down anywhere, especially on your phone. What if it got stolen? Anybody could access your account now.

My email account got hacked. I checked my Sent box and people were sending random messages
like "I just won £50 with this game, try it now." etc.

Oh, and another tip is never give your e-mail address to anyone you don't know. Don't leave it on Facebook or Twitter, or a chat room. If any websites ask for your e-mail address, don't enter it unless you're sure that it is safe.

I don't think that it is possible to hack your whole computer through e-mail. If your accout is registered with Hotmail, there is something on there called 'Skydrive'. You can add photos and albums to there, and you don't really want anyone to see them.
Don't add your address or telephone numbers on info on your e-mail account because if somebody hacks your account, they can read it and find out where you live.

Never send e-mails to your friends with your address, school or other private details on or where you are going to be at 7pm tomorrow or whatever. If somebody gets on your account, they will be able to read this.
Don't leave your alternitive e-mail and password, or security question & answer lying around. This makes it easy to change a password.

What's worse? - even if your password is strong and you're positive that nobody can guess, e-mails sometimes get lost in the internet. That will be a disaster if this gets in the web...
"Hi! Come to my house (35 _____ Road, ______, ________) at 5pm tomorrow!"

Make sure you have good security software on your computer

To be honest your being totally paranoid.

Computers have firewalls which stop any unauthorised infiltration.

Just put a strong pass word on your email made up of 9 characters
made up of upper and lower case letters mixed in with numbers.

I have been using the internet for well over 15 years and have
never been hacked or my email interfered with in all that time.

Most hacking is done by people who know you personally!
