Can I send tweets to Twitter from my iPod?

Can I send tweets to Twitter from my iPod?
I know that Twitter has a number that you can send to to update your Twitter, but on my texting app, it won't let me send it. Can it not send from my app or am I doing something wrong?

You can get an app specifically for Twitter, then you can check other people's updates & make your own updates. I tried all of the different Twitter apps (there's a bunch) and my favorite was definitely Twitterrific. That's the one I use, and I love it
