Can anyone suggest any clever, innovative, effective, and free ways to advertise a photography business?
The business specialises in credit crunch busting wedding photography and low cost portraits shot in the comfort of your own home.
It's a local business, covering only the county of Norfolk - maybe a bit of the surrounding counties too, and it has its own website.

Preferably looking for free or extremely low cost ways of advertising and getting the word out there.

You should concentrate on advertising your website, and there are several free ways of doing that:

Firstly you could try http://www.trafficquest.net/mem_page.php?r=222 This is a great way of not only advertising your site, but also getting others to advertise it for you, getting you tonnes of traffic.

You could also try http://www.easymoneytechniquesonline.com Not only does this have some great stuff on advertising your site at the end, it can also help you get paid advertising on it, so you can make some money off your site.

Furthermore, there’s http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?913831 . This is a great traffic exchange website which will get you a lot more traffic.

Walk round your local town centres with one of those advetising boards over your head.

Visit all the local wedding dress/suit shops and anywhere people visit before getting married and give them cards /leaflets to hand out.

Park your card in high visibility areas with some advertising on.

Get a hold of church wedding schedules and contact the people direct.

Run a competition in the local paper for free wedding photos,Im sure the paper will be happy to publish free.

you could pay search engines like yahoo, google, for the search results of your website. how many words you want youre website to show up on the search results will depend on how much you pay. for eg, you could pay for...low cost wedding photos / wedding photos.

you could disperse leaflets to households, and advertise by examples of you're photos in local newspapers.

use your car to advertise....you can get a vehicle graphic wrap.

also, maybe advertise in local stores at the checkouts, where people are just standing in line, they will read your ad. you could leave leaflets here.

Are you near a tourist area? Like ones that rents homes by the week to vacationers like they do on beaches?

If so, you want to visit rental companies and ask them to put your flyer in your packet. Some rental companies can serve 500 families a week. That’s a lot of packets.

Usually they want something in return, like gift certificates that they can give out (a finite number of them) or photo shoots they can use for their own advertising.

6. Hire an SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) expert or learn by yourself how to optimize your website to get better ranking in search results for your business related terms. getting into first page is necessary as 90% of searchers don't go beyond first page, and 70% don't go beyond first five results.

7. Make your business a brand. Use catchy graphics fast loading pages, beautiful banners. let your visitor feel to bookmark your website so that he may come ( or probably purchase later )

8. Use Social bookmarking websites to spread your articles. periodically write useful and fresh articles and make them popular in interested people. it will improve all brand, traffic, customers and search engine positions. ( See resources list ).

9. Last but not the least. Never try black hat methods you will get black listed and will loose potential search traffic instantaneously. Never try anything which says improve your search engine rank very fast or very high. remember always that anything which seems too good to be true is never true.
