Is it illegal to use pictures from Google Images as my background on Twitter?
I found this picture I want to use as my background on twitter.
But since I don't have ownership of the photo, something in the back of my mind was telling me it was illegal.
My Twitter account is not for advertising, or to make a profit, it's just my personal twitter account.
Thanks Smile x

Yes. That's the essence of copyright: If you didn't create it, it's not yours to use. You'd need to get explicit permission.

By the way, of course it's to make a profit—why do you think Twitter exists?

it's a gray area... some people say it's illegal and some say it's not and there is no clear law regarding it with fair use and all that. use what you want... the worst that will happen is someone will send a takedown notice and you will be asked to remove it. now if you refused to remove it after that then you can get into trouble.

No it is not Illegal at all...pics of goggle are meant for public use..and it is our wish to do any ting with it..if it is illegal to use those pics i say there will be millions and millions cases filed in court every day Smile
but i would like to suggest you one thing..be your self what ever you do..do not create fake accounts and do not try to spy others creating fake accounts..not because it is sin but because it is real time waste programme..so take pics from Google as many as you want and have a good use of them..have good thoughts in your mind always..and most important thing don forget to smile on problems..Keep smiling..may god bless you dear

You can use it and if someone has a problem with it, you will be asked to take it down. It's only if you do refuse to that can cause your account deleted if they can reach to an agreement with Twitter to do so and so forth, but it's highly unlikely that anything of a sort would happen. It's not a big deal...millions of people use Google images...

I haven't seen Google make a big deal about it, it's actually up to the provider of the image to deal with that sorts.

Is it illegal technically yes.

Should you worry about it no.

Why? Because it doesn't matter once you post an image on a website or blog it's open to the world. There are sites that you can protect your photos and either have to pay to use them, provide a link to their original source, or have to display a watermark on the picture. Also pictures are copied and re used all the time, and chances are good the picture you want to use was probably copied and re posted several hundred times already. So don't worry about it.
