Is owning a Twitter account useless if you don't own a phone with internet?

I'm kinda interested in making a twitter account but I'm not too sure if I should even make one. First off, is it useless without a phone that can access the internet? I have an Ipod touch, but... I'm sure that's not too useful on the go regarding internet. Can I also hide my tweets from those who aren't following me? Can I remove a follower if it's someone I don't like?

I Only use twitter on my phone, so for me it wouldn't be worth it without mobile.

Well, if you turn on SMS notifications in your twitter account (in your browser version) you will receive text messages each time certain event happens (follows, retweets, etc).

AND, you can send tweets and do other stuff through text messages,

SO, you can still use your twitter account without an internet connection.
