how do i get traffic to my blog effectively?

I am going to put up a blog posting and talking about videos that are really worth checking out and stuff. How do i get views?

I'm also a new blogger. I think there're a few things you can do.

1. Use Twitter and Facebook, they're more powerful then you can imagine.
2. Register your blog on different blog directories.
3. Visit blogs of similar interests, post comments regularly.

Also check out various blog pingers and ranking sites

Also sign up with a reporting service. (I have one on my site: http://ethertap.blogspot.com check at the very bottom) It will give you an idea of where your visitors are coming from so you can target your posts more effectively.

There are several ways:

1. Social Marketing Sites (Twitter, Facebook, etc)
2. PPC (but I don't recommend this now)
3. Article marketing (basically submitting some useful articles related to your topic and sending it to article marketing sites with a link bank to you website)
4. Joining Forums that tackle topics related to your blog
5. And yahoo answers (coz i visited your blog after i saw your question)

Make a twitter account and search the word blog or bloggers and follow alot of people about 20% will follow back then tweet about your new blog. 3.
