What would be the benefits of widespread market adoption of Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is a free and open source Linux distribution. It has been awarded as being the most user friendly Linux distribution, and it arguably has the most functionality and beauty of all desktop Linux distros. What would be the economic and social benefits to the individual and society? Would there be any disadvantages to its adoption?

The advantages are the same for all Linux Distros. Everyone would save money, and more programmers would be willing to get on the bandwagon to help develope more features and adaptable programs. There would also be a lot more happy people in the world because Linux never faces the hackers that fight Microsoft everyday. So that would make the disadvantages? Bad for hackers, bad for Bill Gates, and possibly even bad for the economy considering how many people have jobs that are Windows related. But I have it, and like it, and would love to see more people willing to ask for the free CDs and just try it. With the CDs being bootable, they can try it without installing it, and that has got to be one of it's greatest features.
Without Fences we wouldn't need Gates.
Without Walls we wouldn't need Windows!
Linux is a Free and Wide open arena...Play in it with us!
Hope this helps
