I will start the business from home selling t-shirts, through word of mouth I need a site for placing orders.

First you will need to select a web hosting company. Then you will need to select a domain name, and register it. Next you will need to find someone to design/create a website for you, or else build the web pages yourself and upload them accordingly. Also you will need to obtain either your own merchant account, or use a service such as PayPal through which you can accept payment for your items. Some hosting companies do provide ready-made templates that you can use either for free, or for a small charge. This may be an option for you if your planned site is only a relatively basic one. Good luck!

Hello. Smile
I think these are just some of the steps you could try in putting up an online business.
1. Make a Website:
Hire a web designer. If you don't have budget for web designing and stuff, make an account in Multiply.com where you could also add your friends. You can as well upload bulk of photos/images in this site for free.
2. Make a Network:
I know you have a lot of friends, and I believe that it'll be easy to market once you have already established your site. You can post your multiply website link to your Facebook account or to other social networking sites to make bigger networks. This is what we call in Internet Marketing, the Social Media Marketing.
3. Promote your site. If you're familiar with Search engine optimization, then it's a plus. Remember that some things transacted online is not an overnight process.

Good luck to your business!
