How did the European Renaissance influence the United States.?
I have done the majority of this essay but I need some assistance. I basically need how the Renaissance helped shape US political, social and cultural institutions. I am told that I missing how the US was affected by the European Renaissance. Some of the Institutions that I need linked to the US is religious innovation, banking technniques, goverment, religious freedom, art etc. Any help that can be offered would be much appreciated. Thank you

The very Renaissance of the 14th to 17th Centuries CE allowed for European States to expand their empires because the idea of the "flat Earth" was proven false. The Protestant Reformation gave many a reason they needed to move here for.
Later thinkers in the Humanist movement encouraged the idea of the State serving the populace and not vice versa.
I can't offer you much to support my theories, this is just top of my head stuff.

Money lenders in Florence carried out their business in work areas covered by cloth know as "bianchi" in Italian. This became "banks" in English. Present-day banks trace their roots to the financial institutions of Florence.

1)Politics - The dominant political idea American colonists held is called 'Lockean Liberalism.' John Locke was a major promoter of self-reliance and the free-market (free enterprise).
But at the core of his Enlightenment-era political philosophy was INDIVIDUALISM, which was a key facet of the Rennaisance.

2)Religion - The Reformation was the major religious event of the Rennaisance. It's major ideals - as it affected Americans - was a faith in self-reliance (one interprets the Bible for oneself), and that material wealth could mean one was favored by God, or would reach Heaven. This helped lead, again, to INDIVIDUALISM, and faith in free enterprise.
