Okay, so I probably won't answer your question very good, but anyways I'll give it a try...

Well, we all know that Facebook started off as a social network ONLY for Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. Then, it was open for other students, at various universities, then to high school students, and finally anyone aged 13 and over.

As you may know, there are actually many, and I mean MANY kids (yes - kids) that use facebook. Like children aged from 6 to 12 years old. People are even making Facebook accounts for their children that have like 2 or 3 years. That's probably why Facebook keeps getting popular and popular over time. It's also probably because on Facebook you can chat with your friends, put up pictures, on which you can comment, you can write wall posts, you can like your friends statuses, and many more things. Also, one of the most popular things on Facebook are the games. Farmville, YoVille, Pet Society, Petville etc. are the most popular games on Facebook. I guess there are more games that are popular but these are the ones that everyone talks about.

So as you see, there are many things to do on Facebook, and that's why it's so popular. It was a small social network, and then it practically started spreading all over the world. From one friend to another, from that friend to his family, from his family member to a co-worker and so on.

I also forgot to say, but people make -fake- accounts, and accounts for their pets.

I hope I helped you somehow with this answer. Smile

EDIT: Oh, and also - Facebook has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Pakistan, Syria, the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, Iran, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh .
