Would people actually buy home made cards if I tried selling them?
Lately, I've been making home made cards (any occasion, really) as a hobby. My boyfriend said maybe I should try selling them, and the other crafty things I make. Do you think people would actually buy them?

sure if they were made from good paper ,something like cardstalk (not just flimsy material), and if they were cheaper than normal cards (most cards can range from 99 cents to 5 dollars)
i'd say a good price for home made cards is 1 dollar
but yeah if they were good quality i think people would buy them

My nephews' friend makes invitation cards on his computer. They are very good. He uses images provided by the host to display on the card, depending on the occasion. He sells them for about $2 each, depending on quantity.

Maybe try taking them to a craft market on a sunday. There are plenty of them about, especially out in the outer suburbs. Take some flyers or brochures. maybe you can specialise to the customers needs.

you could try an advert in the local paper, and supermarkets and malls might let you put a business card or small flyer up somewhere.

I did some marketing concepts and received good returns -
Make a brochure with a sample attached. Make a seperate sheet for names. Take it to Social Clubs like in a factory or company, or bamk, or Hospital, or school, uni/College, any business where there amy be some sort of volume of staff.. Leave it there for a week or two. Ring them to see if there are any orders and you might find yourself with a lot of orders, or none at all. at least it is free advertising.

Also, Try local craft storees, some of them might actually buy a small test run to see how they go.

Good luck, I did this sort of thing for a few years and it was a good experience.

Figure out how much money you have in them, then how long it takes you to make one. then figure out a price.
Figure out if it is worth it

People buy cards I make cross stitch cards and they sell. My materials are left overs from larger projects so as such it isn't costing me anything.
The cards are free samples but they are not that expensive anyway.

I do make money but it is for fun for me a relaxation from work. As I work with difficult people.

So it depends what you are doing it for fun or the money.

I think you should try it out. Just like take ur time on really creative, well made cards that have a good message and aren't too much money. Also, don't use lined, or regular white printer paper use nice like staionary kind of paper, or like just something and decorate them nicely.
