Need help getting new website found in natural searches?
I have a new website http://vacuumspot.com.au/ and i have submitted my website to search engines. I am in the process of setting up fb and twitter too. Everywhere i look on the net there are claims that this method of SEO will get you to page 1 of google in 24hrs etc. Has anyone actually done these methods and achieved the promise? Or is it really the old saying if it seems too good to be true then it probably just isn't true?

There are lots of sites that teach seo well and even more that want your money. You are on the right track. Articles work well also. blogs, put one of your vac on ebay and Reference your site. You can put your url in the signiture of your emails. It's all about the back links plain and simple. Keywords are important to.

It works if your SEO is done correctly, its possible to get your website to page 1 after a few months and yours isn't. Your URL is also new which will make ranking more difficult.

From a surface level view, here are all of the issues I can see on your site -

Title Tag is too long and needs to be keyword optimized 65 characters tops
Description is too long and needs to be keyword optimized 160 characters tops
Images all need to be optimized with alt tags (keyword optimized) & size
You have very little content. Lots of images not much content. You'll never rank high in Google like that.
Need to use more Heading Tags
You don't have a 301 redirect set-up and you need one or search engines read your site as duplicate content which is bad.
You have 160 errors on your homepage alone within the coding
You should make your logo a link because once you enter the check-out, you have no way to go back without hitting the back button.

You have a few issues. Your site has 20 pages indexed by Google and all but 4 have the same meta description. The meta descrip looks good but should be tailored for each page. Title tag is a little long but ok since your important keywords are at the front. Other on-site seo analysis would be useful but you won't get that for free.

For off-site seo you have a good start with fb and twitter. Your niche is pretty competitive with 500,000 results for "vacuum cleaner spares". If it was that easy to get on page 1 of Google in 24 hours than there would be 500,000 sites there already. You will need lots of backlinks to rank high. The good news is that some of the sites on the first page of Google don't have a lot of backlinks so you should be able to beat them. Try building backlinks in web 2.0 properties - see the link for an example. PM me if you want me to show you how to check your competition and build backlinks to beat them.

Search engine optimisation will help a website to get indexed properly and gain on-line popularity in it's niche. This is not an over night miracle that you can achieve in a day. If you want to get your website ranked for keyword like "atotalnocompetitivekeywordthenyoucan" then you can achieve in less time. But nothing as you claim in a single day.

Google or any other search engine will take time to crawl index & evaluate different factors.
For example: Site A is your competitor who is on top 1 position for a relevant keyword that you want to be ranked your website. Site A is there for 5 years with 10000 pages. Site B is your website which is just launched with 20 pages, so do you expect google just remove site A and place your site in fist spot just because you created facebook and twitter account?

If I sound rude then excuse me, I am just trying to tell you the fact. If you have a genuine business that you care, hire a local internet marketing agency that has good track record.
