I like a girl who doesn't know me. Help please?

I knew this girl who's staying in other region of my country through my friend. I'm 20 and she's 18. Well, she don't know me. He talked to me about her and I started to get interested in knowing her. But the bad thing is my friend don't want to be the middle man to introduce me to her. I respect that and I don't want to force him to. I know her facebook and twitter but I didn't add her because it will be awkward. Since I can't meet her, how can I start to talk or have a conversation with her? Sometimes girls won't reply to people who they don't know, that's why I didn't add her. Need some advise. Please help me.
